Registering to vote

You can obtain a voter registration application online, in person at your local elections office, the public library, or the Department of Motor Vehicles. The completed application can be mailed back or dropped off at your local elections office.

Deadline for Registering to vote

The deadline for registering to Vote in Virginia is October 12th. You should receive a voter registration card confirming your standing. You can also confirm your registration standing online.

Early Voting

If you do vote in person, we recommend doing so at an early voting site to avoid lines and crowds. Early voting began on September 17th.

Voting by mail

You also have the option to vote by mail during this election. You can request a mail in ballot online or by mailing in an absentee ballot application. If this is your first time voting in a federal election, you must also include a copy of your ID when mailing your application. Remember to carefully follow all of the instructions on your mail-in ballot, otherwise your vote may not be counted!

The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is October 22nd. You must return this ballot by 7pm on Election Day. If you’re mailing in your ballot, it must be postmarked on or before Election Day.

VOTACIÓN TEMPRANA

Si vota en persona, le recomendamos que lo haga en un sitio de votación temprana para evitar filas y multitudes. La votación temprana comenzó el 17 de septiembre.

VOTAR POR CORREO

También tiene la opción de votar por correo durante esta elección. Puede solicitar una boleta de votación por correo en línea o enviando por correo una aplicación para una boleta de ausencia. Si es la primera vez que vota en unas elecciones federales, también debe incluir una copia de su identificación al enviar su solicitud por correo.
